This is a shorter text that teachers children about all the ways they can find numbers in the world around them. Just as other guided reading books, this one also is written following a type of pattern. This pattern allows for children to follow along easily and understand the content better. When using this book in a guided reading setting, it can be used to help students learn about high frequency words, letters and their sounds, and even topics such as punctutation. Many of the guided reading books can be used in a multitude of ways. ( )

This book is a great read for beginning readers. It is great for math literature. Students can use this book to discover how math is used in the real world. They could start to notice in life that numbers really are everywhere! ( )

"Numbers are Everywhere" is a great book for guided reading because it follows a pattern. Each page begins with "Numbers are." The book gives the reader examples of where numbers are in their everyday lives using words and pictures. The reader can make real life connections to this text by thinking about where he or she sees numbers on a daily basis. This text can be considered a math text for emerging readers and is not very syntactically complex. I would use this book with very young children or someone who is just beginning to learn English.

**GUIDED READING**
This text is a great piece for guided reading. This text would be syntactically challenging for any emergent reader. This text introduces numbers in everyday life using environmental print and other methods. Using this text for a guided reading group would be a great form of assessment. ( )

“Numbers are Everywhere” is the perfect choice for emergent readers. It uses text and pictures to show how numbers are used in our every day lives. It can also act as a math text for beginners. It follows a pattern, each page beginning with “Numbers are” so it is easy to follow for children. It is a great book for guided reading because if the student is having difficulty reading a words they can use picture cues to figure out the sentence. Overall a great math text/pattern book for emergent readers. ( )
