"It doesn't happen often, but sometimes a book comes at exactly the right time and ushers in an era. Boys Like Her is just such a book ... the writing is sensitive, genuine, and unflinching. This is the first of many important books to come from this generation." -Lambda Book Report

betterthanchocolate: For a different take on gender: Brantenberg's novel for a delicious satire of the sexes and Taste This for exploring all the inflections of gendered desire.

Collection of short essays and stories written by a queer performer’s group. The essays are personal, vulnerable and intimate, and mostly written from a genderfluid perspective – many of the writers are between genders or exploring gender.

Librarian's review: Even though this is a non-fic book, it reads like poetry or fiction. This book was very much Not My Jam, but if you like zines, performance poetry, radical vulnerability etc it might be more your thing. ( )

Boys Like Her is a gender and genre smashing collection: definitely not your typical anthology of essays--these are actually mostly stories, as well as poems and photographs. See my review here: http://caseythecanadianlesbrarian.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/review-of-boys-like-h... ( )
