The following are some notes I make as I was reading: two authors, two voices, I am not sure how a story is created with two authors but I did sense some inconsistencies in the characters as they progressed through the story.

It was an easy read. ( )

The Vanished Lady is January 2013 release. This book was provided to me by the authors for an honest review. Dana purchases an old Victorian home that had once been an Inn. The place is supposed to be a show place for her to start her business with a focus on restoring and interior decoration of Victorian homes. The house evidently comes with a little history. Years ago a lady with strong ties to the area disappeared. It was rumored she had her husband killed so she could be with her lover. But, more recently the previous occupant of the house, a young lady named Amy, also vanished. Her disappearance coincided with a robbery and the disappearance of a young man she was rumored to have a relationship with even though she was engaged to someone else. Two years have gone by and no word from Amy. Dana gets sucked into the mystery when one of the men tied to the robbery is released from prison. The assumption is that the "booty" is hidden somewhere on Dana's property. The more Dana learns about the history of the Vanished Lady and Amy, she feels more and more compelled to find out the truth. It seems everyone in town has a theory as to what happened to Amy. Some people thinks she ran away with her lover, some people think a local artist killed her. Some are convinced she is alive, and others are convinced she is dead. What was her role in the robbery? Was she having an affair? If so who was it she was really in love with? Where is the money and the jewelry from the robbery? Do some people in town know what happened to Amy? As Dana begins to ask more questions about Amy and the robbery, someone seems determined to scare Dana away. Not only that, a body surfaces and it looks like murder. This was a very absorbing "whodunit". I love the small town secrets and politics and history. A love triangle, a robbery, a murder and a whole slew of suspects, will keep you guessing all the way to the end. An excellent mystery. For those of you that enjoy a good mystery without a lot of forensics and graphic violence and SC, this one will appeal to you. I'm a fan for now on. I will be looking into more books by these authors. Overall an A. ( )
