Wow. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I don't usually go in for soldiers or paranormal. Although, to be fair, I wouldn't exactly classify this as paranormal. More like paranormal-light, maybe? Or, maybe lab lit (books with just-slightly-out-of-reach science in them). Well, whatever you want to call it, it was excellent! I can't wait to pick up book #2 and see what happens to the other brothers. ( )

Forgotten Sins
4 Stars

Two years after being deserted by her husband, Josie Dean walks into a hospital room to find him suffering from amnesia. Shane Dean can't remember anything other than the fact that he loves his wife and will do anything to regain her love and her trust. Unfortunately, Josie is being targeted by dangerous foes who may or may not be related to Shane’s past. Can he protect her from them and perhaps even from himself?

An enjoyable romantic suspense read despite the rather convoluted plot.

Josie’s sweetness hides a core of steel and, contrary to Shane’s belief, she is quite capable of taking care of herself in dire situations. Nevertheless, she does have one or two borderline TSTL moments and she if far too trusting given the circumstances.

Shane is a sexy hero and his amnesia only makes him all the more enigmatic. Moreover, this memory loss allows him to reveal his true self to Josie and to win her over despite her reservations. That said, Shane’s possessive streak and his over-protectiveness get old after a while and it takes him too long to realize that Josie isn’t the soft and fragile woman he believes her to be.

The best aspect of the book is Shane’s relationship with his brothers. The Dean boys’ sense of family and loyalty to one another is wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the way in which they extend that to include Josie.

The main problem with the book is the overly complicated plot, which has too many parallel storylines. The money laundering element is completely unnecessary in the larger scheme of things and its resolution appears totally out of the blue. Moreover, it comes at the expense of the military experiments theme, which is underdeveloped although it is possible that more information will be forthcoming in future installments.

In sum, the overall story arc is very intriguing and I look forward to seeing how the Dean brothers overcome the obstacles that are set up in this book. ( )

This was a good escape book--an easy read with plenty of romance and plenty of action. I might have liked a little bit more detail for some of the plot points, but all in all, there was just enough to hold everything together and keep the story moving quickly. There was a little bit of the insta-love element, but in this case it made sense because it's a husband and wife re-uniting after a mysterious absence and a bout of amnesia. Convenient, yes, but also believable enough in the way it was presented. I'm anxious to see how Zanetti will handle the (slow?) build of a romance in the next book in the series, but as a start to the series, this was a good book and a good way to jump in.

So, yes, if fast action and steamy romance and intrigue appeal, I'd recommend this one! ( )

Good read, though sometimes it dragged a little for me. The ending was good, although a little predictable and rushed maybe? But I'll definitely keep reading the series. :) ( )

Genetically altered since birth and trained in black ops equals some very SINfully alpha’s.

Love finding a new series with military men and this one is even better with a twist. Born and raised in a military camp 4 young boys each with differently super human capabilities were forced to train to be killers. They plotted there escape as adults and have been in hiding ever since trying to bring down the whole organization. Two years ago one of those men met and married a woman but 2 months later disappeared without a trace.

Josie Dean grew up in foster homes never really having anyone to call family. When she met Shane Dean she thought she’d finally gotten her wish to be part of a family, to have someone to call her own. She knew her husband was in the military and kept many secrets from her but she loved him enough to let those secrets slide. That is until he just left her with no word. Now she is being called to the hospital to collect her injured husband she hasn’t heard from in two years. Josie was not at all happy to see Shane. She had finally filed for divorce and was moving on with her life. Shane who is suffering from amnesia and doesn’t remember Josie in his head but recognizes he had feelings for her in his heart doesn’t let Josie walk away from the hospital without him.

There is plenty of action throughout this book. I really liked the twist on how Shane and his brothers were created and raised. We were given the clues to Shane’s past as he slowly remembered which kept you turning the pages to find out what was going on. You could tell Shane and Josie were meant for each other right from the start but they had a lot of baggage to get through before Josie could fully trust Shane again with her heart. As if the whole background of Shane and his brothers and knowing someone was after them wasn’t enough there was also another side plot that involved Josie and her job that was interwoven into the already action packed story.

Looking forward to the rest of the brothers stories and getting answers to plenty of story plots that were left open.
