The Beauty and the Brawler is an irreverent, interracial romance featuring a fun and hilarious couple. From the first sentence the comedic theme of the novel is set and I was chuckling all the way through to the end. Each character has a brutal sense of humor, delivering biting comments but all in good fun.

I liked that the plot was straightforward and easy to follow. Both characters are famous in their own right and come together because it is what they want. Samara is an African American woman while Luciano is of Italian descent. Their difference in ethnicity is never a problem. Luciano sees Samara as the beautiful woman he's been chasing for years. This is truly an engaging and funny romantic novel.

Samara Blackwell is a radio personality with a major following. Luciano "The Philly Brawler" Antonelli is a famous boxer known for his skill and charm. Samara and Luciano have an antagonistic relationship driven by their concealed sexual attraction to each other. One night, fueled by alcohol and too-long suppressed desire, they finally make love and their lives are forever altered.
