There is so much to like in this series! I disagree with anyone who calls this a retelling of the Red Riding Hood story. Yes, it has the same characters, but that is all. What I particularly like is effortless integration of whimsical story and accurate information about human health. I read this aloud to my kindergarten students and they begged for more. ( )

Fun retelling of mother goose stories set in a modern day emergency room( staffed with animals, of course) loved the quirky characters and illustrations. ( )

This early reader is a modern, medical twist on the classic fairy tale, The Big Bad Wolf. There is a little girl in a red dress sitting in the emergency room because she can't find her grandma. Meanwhile there is a choking wolf who was brought into the ER, and Doctor Glenda and Nurse Percy must figure out why the wolf is choking and save his life. Of course, the big, bad wolf is choking on Grandma. Thanks to Dr. Glenda and Nurse Percy, grandma is pulled out of the wolf and all's well and end's well.

This is a fun book to read, especially for those children who are familiar with the traditional version of the fairy tale. There is humor and plenty of action to hold the interest of young readers. The illustrations are wonderfully entertaining and will help young readers figure out the meaning of words and the story line. There is a nice balance of illustrations and words on each page. ( )
