Written and compiled by the Lord of Evil himself, The Adventure Time Encyclopaedia matches the playful, subversive tone of the cartoon series, detailing everything anyone will ever need to know about the postapocalyptic land of Ooo and its inhabitants-- secret lore and spells, fun places you should visit and places where you will probably die, whom to marry and whom not to marry, how to make friends and how to destroy your enemies-- plus hand-written marginalia by Finn, Jake, and Marceline. An indispensable companion to the show, this side-splittingly funny love letter to Adventure Time is sure to appeal to fans of all ages. Heck yeah!… (more)

Much like the show, this book is pretty silly (and told from the perspective of Hunson Abadeer, Lord of Evil and Marceline's dad). I'm not caught up with the whole series, so there were a few spoilers in here, mostly in the form of introductions to characters I hadn't seen yet. It's a good encyclopedia with profiles of characters (whole chapters for main characters and blurbs for minor ones) and places (e.g. Candy Kingdom and Lumpy Space), a map of the Land of Ooo, and some extras. And "handwritten" annotations by Finn, Jake, and Marceline.

It's not a book that I could read from linearly cover to cover, but it'll be fun to revisit and reference as I finish watching the more recent seasons. Gonna leave it out on the coffee table for browsing.

Oh, and, A for all the illustrations inside! ( )

I'd highly recommend this book to any hardcore fan of the series. It presents information about the wonderful land of OOO and its inhabitants in a fun, creative way. The book is a must have for any serious fan.
