The Story
"Dude, she invited her Berkeley friends over to make placards! Even as we speak, my apartment's ripe with the pungent tang of Sharpie-wielding hipster."

A phone, sitting on the empty ground of a park. Upon inspection, a phone with photos of a dead body. What would you do?

Jake Dobson doesn't get much time to think it over, as he winds up in the middle of disastrous nightmare and is bounced from one precarious scenario to the next. I definitely have not read such a fully action-packed graphic novel before, the story is non-stop go go go once things heat up.

"You think you're so smart. You think you've figured this all out. Well, heads up, kids. This isn't an episode of Scooby fucking Doo."

The Art
I prefer color art, generally speaking, but I think the stark black & white used here did a lot for the atmosphere. Nominal shading, sharp lines, big contrast. Excellent stuff. Nicely drawn realism style; a lot of variation in the panel placements and the shifts from silhouetted figures to background scenes to close-up faces and everything in between serve to keep your eyes attracted to the page.

Overall thoughts
While there was maybe a little too much action, both the art and story-line were interesting and held attention. I would certainly read more from this pair. ( )
