With Anna is her friend Heath, a paraplegic; Heath's fifteen-year-old daughter, Elizabeth; Leah, a wealthy designer of outdoor equipment; and her daughter, Katie, who is thirteen. For Heath and Leah, this is a shakedown cruise to test a new cutting edge line of camping equipment. The equipment, designed by Leah, will make camping and canoeing more accessible to disabled outdoorsmen. On their second night out, Anna goes off on her own for a solo evening float on the Fox River. When she comes back, she finds that four thugs, armed with rifles, pistols, and knives, have taken the two women and their teenaged daughters captive. This book is a little over the top still good and well worth reading but the total stupidity of the thugs is ... ( )

Description
Park ranger Anna Pigeon is enjoying a weekend away camping in Minnesota's National Park with her girlfriends. Leah Hendricks is the genius behind a high-end sports gear manufacturer and Heath Jarrod has volunteered to test out some of the equipment. But when they encounter a band of violent kidnappers little do they realize that their ultimate challenge will be to stay alive.

I didn’t believe the premise of this story right from the start and that continued throughout, so I never got very interested. There was also a lot of beating up people throughout. I’ve read several other books by Nevada Bar that I enjoyed but not this one. ( )

Lots of suspense. Not really the norm for this series as it took place in a non-identified campground and the plot is personal, having nothing to do with being a park ranger. ( )

This was a bit tedious to complete. Anna Pigeon is a secondary character in this novel. ( )

For Sherry, Dianne, and Barb, who provided me with all the ingredients for this book, then threw in their friendship to boot.
First words
Prologue: Paul Davidson was stopped on the overpass outside of Denver International Airport, amused as always by the statue of the great blue Gumby horse rearing against the white peaks of the terminal roof in the background.
