Gave up on this after a few chapters. Read much like a serial continuation of the first book (which I liked). I prefer stand alone novels.

This was another fun adventure in the exciting time-travel world of St. Mary's! The pacing felt a little odd in the latter half, but it was still a good story. I was glad to see all my favorite characters again! ( )

In this second book of the series, the historians of St. Mary's must travel back in time to investigate Jack the Ripper and Mary, Queen of Scots. This book also continues the plotline of renegade historian who seems to travel around the timeline for personal gain and revenge.

The characters in this book are zany and outrageous which makes this book fun to read. ( )

Taylor, Jodi. A Symphony of Echoes. Chronicles of St. Mary’s No. 2. Accent Press, 2013.
History, Taylor tells us, is “a symphony of echoes.” That is especially true if your historians bop back and forth from past to future to present in who knows what order or timeline. Our heroine Max has a hitchhiking Jack the Ripper in her pod, gets involved in the romantic affairs of Mary Queen of Scots, and oh yes, there is a dodo hunt. If you want your history to be stodgy and reliable, look for another book. If you want Dr. Who without Daleks or Cybermen, then this lightweight time travel fantasy might be your cuppa. ( )

Epigraph
History is a symphony of echoes heard and unheard. It is a poem with events as verses.

Charles Angoff
Dedication
This book is for Connie and Martin who had faith.
And for Dani who actually did it.
And for Christine.
First words
One of the best things about our job is that if you live long enough, you get to choose your last jump. (Prologue)
Eines der besten Dinge an unserem Job ist die Tatsache, dass man sich seinen letzten Sprung aussuchen darf - falls man lange genug am Leben bleibt.
God only knows where we were, and we couldn't see a thing.
