I loved this quirky, sweet romance. As my friend said, best first date book ever! Also, great chapter titles: "The Puppet That Bites" - "Treatments for Female Baldness" - "Thank Goodness for Murdered Monks." And I liked how the narration alternated between Her (Zuzanna) and Him (Mik). I learned a lot about Prague: puppets, the Charles River bridge area. Fun to follow the protagonists' "treasure maps" on illustrator Jim Di Bartolo's map. (

Romantic and whimsical, with no hint of terror or death. The language in this is even more magical than Laini Taylor's usual. Apparently her spirit animal is a rabid fairy named Zuzana. And sweet, sweet Mik. A genuinely nice boy, full stop. No need for redemption, no obsession, just an adorably sweet crush.

I absolutely love everything in this series and this was just a glorious, beautiful thing from beginning to end. I love getting it from both their points of view, how they view each other, what lengths they go to, the surprising moments and the perfection about things happen in their own time, no matter what you plan or plot into being. (

If there were ever two supporting characters who deserved their own story, it's Mik and Zuzana, buddies to Karou in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. Night of Cake & Puppets is delightful, packed with sweetness and humor.

If you're a fan of the series and love these characters, pick this up. You won't be disappointed. (
