This volume brings an end to the publication of Serge Sauneron’s works dedicated to the temple of esna. By gathering the inscriptions (n°547-646) engraved on the southern and western outer walls of the temple, it completes the set constituted by the previous collections esna II-VI (texts n°1-546) and fills the gap ensued from the publication in 1982 of esna VIII, a study about L’écriture figurative dans les textes d’esna. Jochen Hallof, who realized this publishing, proceeded on location to a systematic check of the scenes and inscriptions as well as to a full digital photographic coverage. In the uncompromising respect of the original manuscript of S. Sauneron whose handwritten personal observations are reproduced in notes, he was able to make some fine corrections and to add four new scenes… (more)
