DOGGIE KISSES 123 is a cute counting book. It's a larger boardbook and it has a padded cover.

If you know Todd Parr's work you are probably familiar with how appealing it is to children. The 'simple' art style and the bright saturated colors catch their attention and keep it.

In this book the numbers that are covered go from 1 to 10. (I always wish they'd include zero, but alas, not so.) And what's being counted are kisses. Kisses from dogs!

The numbers each have 2 pages. On the first page there will be the rhyme and a GIANT number. On the second page, a cute picture of a dog and his/her kid. So you'll have something like:

Seven tickly doggy kisses
on the nose.
7
(artwork)

Eight playful doggy kisses
when it snows.
8

(artwork)

And on the last 2 pages there are all of the dogs and all of the numbers so your child can practice identifying the numbers .AND. what 'descriptor' identified the number. Like "1" is "silly kisses", and "3" is "squeaky kisses".

The only other thing you might want to know is that the pages are different from the old style boardbooks. Instead of being cardboard-y and thick, they are heavily plasticized, water/drool resistant, and thin. Thin enough that some tiny fingers might have problems turning the pages.

Ultimately though, this is cute counting book that should make a good choice for dog-lovin' children.
