Iris moves from the big city to the country. She hates the country, even though her mom and dad do their best to cheer her up. One day, Grandpa takes her on a walk to find other children. They discover a tree with a little house in it and a new friend, Walter. Iris and Walter become fast friends, and Iris realizes she can be happy in the country, even though she misses the city.

This is a really sweet story and I would share it with students when talking about friendship or perhaps when a new student moves into the classroom.

This story was quite interesting, and would be a great read for a newly moved family. This story shows how everything, at first, may seem very bad and unfamiliar but with enough time we can adapt to our situations and find the good in them.

Iris and Walter centers around Iris, a young girl who has just reluctantly moved from a big city to the country. In an effort to cheer her up, Iris's grandpa shows her a treehouse where she finds Walter, a young boy who helps Iris accept and like her new home.
