Nel 2007 Julian Assange, già gestore e fondatore di WikiLeaks, incontra Daniel Domscheit-Berg, con lui nel corso di 3 anni porterà la piattaforma per la divulgazione di documenti riservati alla notorietà mondiale attraverso la pubblicazione di una serie segreti clamorosi, culminati con i cablogrammi e i resoconti riguardanti la guerra in Afghanistan del governo americano nel 2010, evento talmente clamoroso da distruggere la stessa organizzazione interna del sito e renderlo il nemico dei principali governi del pianeta.
Quella di WikiLeaks è una storia a doppio livello. Da una parte è un racconto dell'era digitale, la nascita di un sito (e di una tecnologia dietro di esso) che ha cambiato il concetto di segretezza, consentendo la più grande fuga di notizie nella storia dell'informazione; dall'altra è uno dei molti esempi delle nuove forme di attivismo, cioè di come la tecnologia e la comunicazione digitale stiano cambiando la maniera in cui gli individui agiscono e si muovono per protestare attivamente contro le istituzioni.
