It was a quick and enjoyable read with plenty of family drama to make your family seem a bit more normal. Truly a perfect read for the Holidays. I love all the beautiful Christmasy elements. I think I'm going to start a nutcracker collection now ( )

Initially, I wasn't sure I'd bother reading all three books (my book club chose the third as the January book and I had to read the first two of the series before that, clearly), even though they're short, but the book did get more interesting and it IS short, so it didn't take long to read. I still hope the other two books in the series are better, though. ( )

Story offers improbably fun Christmas reading, featuring an over-the-top richy-rich spending, brand name dropping plot.

Still, the family dynamics keep readers wondering if it will all end predictably - thankfully there are some odd surprises. ( )

I know I read this and can't find my review of it. I discovered it on my shelf when I went to get the next in line to read! I must have loved it to order the next book in the series. ( )

Very fun Christmas story. It's pretty much a novella because it doesn't go too deep into what is happening beyond Christmas. This story covers 3 days in the lives of the Quinn family. Some characters you get to know a little and some are just there on the surface. It's not where you will get attached to the characters. But it will entertain you. Yes, it does leave questions at the end but that's okay. I enjoy a good Hilderbtrand book. If you want a quick read to take you away from your family at Christmas pick this one up and realize your life isn't so bad. ( )

In bestseller Elin Hilderbrand's first Christmas novel, a family gathers on Nantucket for a holiday filled with surprises.

Kelley Quinn is the owner of Nantucket's Winter Street Inn and the proud father of four, all of them grown and living in varying states of disarray. Patrick, the eldest, is a hedge fund manager with a guilty conscience. Kevin, a bartender, is secretly sleeping with a French housekeeper named Isabelle. Ava, a school teacher, is finally dating the perfect guy but can't get him to commit. And Bart, the youngest and only child of Kelley's second marriage to Mitzi, has recently shocked everyone by joining the Marines.

As Christmas approaches, Kelley is looking forward to getting the family together for some quality time at the inn. But when he walks in on Mitzi kissing Santa Claus (or the guy who's playing Santa at the inn's annual party), utter chaos descends. With the three older children each reeling in their own dramas and Bart unreachable in Afghanistan, it might be up to Kelley's ex-wife, nightly news anchor Margaret Quinn, to save Christmas at the Winter Street Inn.

Before the mulled cider is gone, the delightfully dysfunctional Quinn family will survive a love triangle, an unplanned pregnancy, a federal crime, a small house fire, many shots of whiskey, and endless rounds of Christmas caroling, in this heart-warming novel about coming home for the holidays.

Colin Quinn owns a Bed and Breakfast on Nantucket and is a proud father of four. As Christmas approaches, Conor and his wife Mitzi anticipate a wonderful family reunion. But when Bart, the golden child announces that he has joined the Marines and is leaving for Afghanistan two days before Christmas, Mitzi is so distressed that she confesses to having an affair with a long-time guest at the Inn. As more secrets unravel and chaos ensues, it's up to their daughter Ava to piece together the holiday.… (more)
