Dopo l'8 settembre 1943 piĆ¹ di 600.000 militari italiani furono catturati dai tedeschi e rinchiusi nei campi di concentramento in Polonia e in Germania. Costretti a lavori disumani, sfiniti dalla fame, dalla fatica e dalle percosse diventarono, di fatto, schiavi del Terzo Reich. L'Autore racconta le vicende drammatiche di un gruppo di internati costretti a lavorare dapprima nella miniera di carbone di Basweiler, poi sulla linea del fronte per scavare trincee e costruire fortini, quindi in una fabbrica di Colonia, fino alla resa dei tedeschi e alla liberazione.
