Kit and Jessa have had feelings for each other since they were teenagers, but their hands-off relationship changes when Kit comes back from his first Marine deployment. Jessa is now 18 and Kit can't stay away from her anymore. They decide to keep their budding romance a secret from Riley, Kit's best friend and Jessa's brother, as well as Jessa's father, who hates Kit. However tragedy strikes when Riley and Kit are on their second deployment, making any future Jessa and Kit might have had, seem hopeless.

Come Back to Me is an effectively written new adult story about navigating both love and loss, producing plenty of emotional content. The characters are well developed, especially Kit and Jessa as they first try to hide their relationship, and then struggle to save it. However, many of the events in the story are extremely predictable, making it difficult to connect with parts of the story. Also the plot seems unbalanced, as the lengthy construction of the romance at the beginning of the story is light and airy, while the meat of the story is much shorter toward the end where the majority of the emotion lies. Overall, though, Come Back to Me is an enjoyable new adult romance with plenty of angst to keep the reader invested. ( )

Wait, what...? This doesn't come out until 2015?!?

I actually had some tears on page 3! Yes, page 3! You are left wondering if it was her boyfriend or brother who died at War, and it is just devastating either way. I think not knowing actually makes it more emotional as you see the romance between Kit and Jessa and also the relationship with Kit, Jessa, and Riley. As the romance develops between Kit and Jessa your heart is breaking thinking it may have been Kit who died. Then you have Riley and his storyline, and your heart breaks just the same. One does die at War which I found so much more emotional than some other deaths in other books. I think it is so realistic for so many families today. Overall, I really enjoyed this and bought the companion novel to read next. ( )

Come Back To Me by Mila Gray is a New Adult romance book, set in today’s time. The two main characters are Jessa and Kit. Jessa’s brother, Riley, has known Kit and has been his best friend since elementary school. Now they are going off to join the marines, and Jessa has had a crush on Kit since she was 14. Every year Jessa’s mother hosts a beginning of summer barbecue and Kit comes every year. This year Jessa talks to Kit on her own. They spend the rest of the summer together. But something happens one morning after Kit and Riley get deferred again, you need to read the book to see what happens!
The best part of this book is the fact that Kit may just be the best boyfriend ever. He always stood up for Jessa, even when she was against him, he pushed her out of her comfort zone, and he protected her, at all costs. But he isn’t one of those characters who seem too perfect to be real. He is just a genuine sweet person. When you read the book and see how he treats Jessa, it makes you fall in love with him, you wonder to yourself, “Why can’t I find someone like this?”.
The author, Mila Gray just has a sort of magic to her writing. She hooks you in, and if you read like I do, you’ll find that writers now-a-days just can’t really do that anymore. They may be able to keep your attention span for a few pages, but after awhile you lose interest or just forget what’s going on. Mila Gray doesn’t do that. Once you crack open the book, you’ll be hooked. Mila Gray can also write really good romance scenes. Another cool thing about her is that she can write dual POV. When you read most books with dual POV you find that the character’s “voices” mix together too much, it is hard to tell whose voice you are actually reading. With Mila Gray’s writing, you can always tell who is the speaker and that’s another thing I love about this book. ( )

A beautiful story that consumes you from page one and holds you captive through the end.

This book was a breath of fresh air. The writing was fantastic and the storyline was intriguing. While there was a passionate romance, there was also heartbreak, suspense, family drama, and secrets. I instantly fell for the love story and became addicted to turning the pages. The more I read, the more my heart ached for the characters.

Jessa is a young woman battling with her inner emotions. What she wants is different from what her father wants for her. She has always been one to conform, but Kit brings out her rebel side. She begins to second guess her future plans and starts pursuing the things she is passionate about, Kit included. Their relationship is forbidden though. Her father doesn't approve, but he can't keep them apart. Together they embark on a secret, romantic, all consuming journey of love. Their time is cut short though because Kit is being sent back to Afghanistan. When tragedy strikes over seas the couple is pulled apart...

The family drama in this story brings just enough suspense. My heart raced and I found myself holding my breath at times. The secrets and lies added the angst I craved.

I honestly cannot say enough great things about this book. If you love Nicholas Sparks books... you will love this one! It is worth every penny! I recommend it to all readers over 18. ( )
