Irgendwann in einer mehr oder weniger fernen Zukunft in Europa. Großbritannien tritt (mal wieder?) aus der Union aus. Eine neue Verfassung soll in Brüssel verabschiedet werden. Da stirbt ein norditalienisches MdEP. Aart Westerhuizen ist Kommissar der Europäischen Polizei und untersucht den Fall mit allen technischen Mitteln, die ihm zur Verfügung stehen.

Diese erscheinen aus heutiger Sicht atemberaubend, weil die Allgegenwart von hörenden und sehenden Geräten jedweder Art (Drohnen, digitale Brillen usw. selbstredend alles 24/7 mit dem Netz verbunden) erlauben, buchstäblich alles Geschehene aufzeichnen. Aus diesen Daten lässt sich dann nahezu jedes Vergangene rekonstruieren. Aber nicht nur das: Aus den Verhalten von Individuen lässt sich ihr wahrscheinliches künftiges Verhalten extrapolieren - man kann Verbrecher also festnehmen, bevor sie ihre Tat begehen...

Das Buch ist von 2014, nimmt aber technische und politische Entwicklungen vorweg, die zum Teil schon jetzt eingetreten sind. Hillenbrand hat eine beängstigend realitätsbezogene Fantasie, wie der Mensch mit digitalen Hilfsmitteln in der Lage ist, sich die Hölle auf Erden zu schaffen.

Sehr spannend. Hoffentlich wird daraus eine Reihe. ( )
