Evidently Miyazaki's last and more realistic than most of his previous work. Very lush, yet realistic animation. The tuberculosis subplot is reminiscent of Richard Feynman's first marriage. I had difficulty placing the era at first, because so many of the characters wore Western clothing. Long, episodic, and unusual. ( )
