This book was really slow at first. It was so slow that I wanted to abandon the book but I received it from the author in exchange for my honest review. I liked some of the characters and they had great personalities but I felt like I was left with too many questions. I feel like there were things left out and you really didn't get the entire picture of what was going on.

The concept was intriguing. What would happen if there is a place between here and the afterlife. What would it look like. I would have liked to have had more information about the different places. What is the difference between section 8, section 24 or section 42. Why are they sent to the different places? What are the rules they aren't supposed to break? What happens to the wanderers? Who exactly are the hunters? Who is in charge and why? I think if there was more background and more flushing out of the backgrounds of the characters.

Other than that, it wasn't so bad. ( )

"But trusting your heart is even more important. Just listen to what it says to you. The heart isn't always right, but sometimes being wrong is what's best for you."

Well, that was different. And I am not saying that in a bad way.

Evangeline just died and she came to a place that is considered an "in-between". To fairly understand the place she was in, she had been given Godparents to guide her as she transitions. Eve is a strong and stubborn woman. She doesn't go with the flow and I admire that about her. I am just annoyed by the fact that she doesn't consider what will be the consequences of her reckless actions to other people.

One day, as she met Will, a mysterious guy that volunteers to help her embrace the 'life' that she now has, she never felt for alive.

Err, what will you do if a stranger knocked in your door at night and invited you out? You don't agree of course and you should shut the door and locked it tight. I mean, that's seriously creepy, right? So what if you feel like you could trust him because of his eyes? You don't talk to strangers! At night! Or anytime for that matter! Well, maybe Eve felt safe because uhh duh? She's dead already. What harm can it do anyway?

Really.

I feel frustrated because like Eve, I couldn't get the answers I was looking for. Everybody seems to know things except her! I do not like being clueless.

I am seriously sad for Josh, Eve's husband. Guys, there is no love triangle here. The book told us that everything happens for a reason but it seems that Eve has not yet forget some things from the past.

I love the author's writing. It's poetic and beautiful. I think that's one of the reasons why I continued reading this even though I feel indifferent in most part of the story.

The ending was not good at all if this book is a standalone. I mean, the author couldn't leave me anymore confused by that! Some of my questions was not answered.

Overall, a fairly unique and intriguing paranormal romance. I would have loved this more if it wasn't confusing most of the time. Or maybe that's just me.

Final Rating: 2.5/5 stars
