This is a continuation in the Whisper Creek series, but you can read it as a stand a lone. We meet Emma who goes to Montana and takes a temporary position, with the intention of returning home. However, she meet Jasper, they both have past hurts, which is a little hard on them but they are good together. ( ) DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: After being betrayed by her con man ex-fiancé, Kyla Bennett nurses a broken heart. But Kyla’s friends have other ideas and when they whisk her off to Whisper Creek, a dude ranch staffed by cowboys so hot they dim the Montana sunset, all Kyla wants to do is hide under a quilt. Then in rides Decker Driscoll. He’s hauling about as much emotional baggage as Kyla, but when he stands close by, both of them want to stay close—and begin to succumb to an undeniable attraction. After experiencing personal tragedy, Decker never thought he’d see Big Sky country again. But now that his family’s Whisper Creek property is in deep with a Vegas gambler, Decker’s back for the summer—and spending all his time running from “cowgirls” who come to the dude ranch to score some dudes. Then he meets Kyla, a kindred spirit who brings on a stampede of protective feelings . . . and a powerful hankering to sear her with a new brand of love. Accidental Cowgirl by Maggie McGinnis is a really cute romance that takes place in the Midwest country lands of Montana. McGinnis creates a fun light read that draws you from the very start when Kyla’s rental car dies in the middle of nowhere. The setting of this book makes you wish you were there with Kyla experiencing the beautiful surroundings. After a long hard year, Kyla Bennett goes on a two week vacation to a ranch, Whisper Creek, with her two best friends, Hayley and Jess. She leaves on her girls trip immediately following the last day of court that she is testifying against her ex-fiancé, who has done her wrong in every way possible. The brochure for Whisper Creek promises sexy cowboys and beautiful sunsets. When her rental car gives out on her and she gets a flat tire in the middle of nowhere with nothing around, she is worried until a cop shows up claiming she is drunk. Could the start of her vacation get any worse? After going through a series of sobriety tests a cowboy comes to save her… from the cop and a rattlesnake! Turns out the sexy cowboy who saved her life is one of the brothers who owns Whisper Creek where she is staying for the next two weeks! All great news until she finds out, Decker has a girlfriend. However, Kyla and Decker gets close over the time. Unfortunately, there are some mean ladies also trying to be seduced by the ruggedly handsome cowboy. Kyla finds herself constantly in predicaments and in the hospital! Who are these women trying to get together with Decker? Does Kyla have a chance or is Decker another lying cheat? Will this vacation help her to heal and forget all the bad things that have happened over the last year? I really enjoyed reading this novel. I would give it 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone that likes a good romance and some sexy cowboys. The Accidental Cowgirl: A Loveswept Contemporary Romance by Maggie McGinnis is a 2013 publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Kyla is trying to recover physically, mentally, and emotionally from: a snake of an ex-fiance who stole from her and her grandparents, a near fatal accident, then the deaths of her grandparents. Now she has trouble sleeping and is prone to debilitating panic attacks. So, her two best friends decide Kyla needs a vacation and time away from everything. So, they sign up to experience life on a dude ranch in Montana. Decker is returning home to Montana after spending his adult life in LA. His father has passed away and the ranch is in trouble financially. So, he plans to spend the summer trying to save the ranch from being taken away because of his father's gambling debts. Decker loves this ranch, loves Montana and would love to live here again, but a very painful memory is here too and Decker bears the responsibilty for it. When three women from Boston show up for a little fun, Decker and his brother show the ladies how to ride a horse, and plan other activities to keep them entertained. Kyla is pleasantly surprised to see Decker is one of the ranch owners. The two met because she had a flat tire on her way to the ranch and a retired cop had her doing all kinds of hilarious sobriety test. Decker stopped and rescued her. Decker can't seem to take his eyes off Kyla and it becomes obvious he is a little smitten with her. One of his ex- girlfriends who has also returned to Montana after trying her hand at being a star, is abnormally jealous. So, life out in Montana is about to become very interesting. First of all , I loved the retired cop. He got things off to a good start and the story stayed on a fast pace all the way through. I also appreciated the two friends that thought so much of Kyla and really wanted to help her recover. Then there was Decker. Ok, I love the flawed, the tormented, the smoking hot cowboy type and Decker was all of those things. Decker has lived his adult life blaming himself for something that wasn't really his fault. He tried to forge a life for himself away from the place he loved most in the world, but he hasn't felt fulfilled. His heart is on the ranch and up until now, he hasn't even been able to visit it. A romance is the last thing on Kyla's mind. She's been burned and has no intention of making that mistake again. But, Decker is mighty hard to resist. So, can a city girl with a whole lot of baggage and a cowboy with a heavy heart find common ground? It may not seem likely in the beginning, and there are many obstacles in their way, but these two people are a lot stronger than they give themselves credit for. They are both survivors and I think that together they can conquer anything. Overall this one is an A. no reviews | add a review
