Shirley Hughes is a wonderful illustrator but her stories of Alfie and Annie Rose rank among our family favorites for young readers and story time. This volume has a trio of stories - Alfie ties his Noah's Ark story to an evening burst pipe and flood, Alfie goes to naughty Bernard's birthday party with his blanket and helps his friend Minh, and gets a new pair of boots that don't feel quite right - all of which will grab the imagination of young children. We found that our children would create a bit of distance between themselves and the book whenever Bernard was scolded, but otherwise loved all of these - and other Alfie - stories.
The book All about Alfie shows the adventures and everyday life of a young boy named Alfie and his family. Alfie encounters various situations and learns valuable lessons about friendship, kindness, and family. The book's illustrations are charming and detailed, capturing the warmth and coziness of Alfie's world. Shirley Hughes' artwork adds depth to the story, making it engaging and visually appealing for young readers. This book is best suited for children ages 4-8
