Second one in the Adam Grant series that stared with Thirteen. (I think there MAY be a third one as Hoyle has left a tiny window open for it.) Here is the goodreads summary: Adam may have survived once, but a cult still has him in its sights. And this time he may not escape with his life...Abbie's dad is an undercover agent, tasked with exposing dangerous cults. He's normally able to maintain his distance, but this time Abbie's worried he's in too deep. Megan was sure she and Adam were safe, but now he's gone missing on a school ski trip in Scotland and she's the only one who can help him . (May 2016)
My review: Adam does not feature very much in the book until towards the end. This is basically Abbie's story from inside a cult where her Dad ( coming to grips with the recent loss of his wife and Megan's mum) is swept up in the cult, who's main aim is to kidnap Adam and sacrifice him and all the smartest kids in the UK that they have kidnapped - think Jonestown - at a certain time and place. Horrible in the use of drugs to induce hallucinogenic images ( hence the spiders in title) and keep the cult members subdued. the end was a little too neat with the overly helpful truck driver and cult members switching sides, but it is a kid 's book.
