"To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars, one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces... Sasha Riggs is a reclusive artist, haunted by dreams and nightmares that she turns into extraordinary paintings. Her visions lead her to the Greek island of Corfu, where five others have been lured to seek the fire star. Sasha recognizes them, because she has drawn them: a loner. All on a quest. All with secrets. Sasha is the one who holds them together the seer. And in the magician, Bran Killian, she sees a man of immense power and compassion. As Sasha struggles with her rare ability, Bran is there to support her, challenge her, and believe in her. But Sasha and Bran are just two of the six. And they all must work together as a team to find the fire star in a cradle of land beneath the sea. Over their every attempt at trust, unity, and love, a dark threat looms. And it seeks to corrupt everything that stands in its way of possessing the stars."-- Provided by publisher.… (more)

If you've read the Key Trilogy, the Circle Trilogy, the Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy etc., then chances are you'll find this book quite familiar. While there are differences between all of these books, they are very reminiscent of each other... Nora Roberts writes her magical romance trilogies in a formulaic pattern. Once upon a time, I loved reading them and while I still enjoy them to an extent, they don't hold me as captivated as they used to. ( )

Stars of Fortune is the first book in the Guardians' Trilogy. Sasha is a seer who brings together six people, each with special abilities. Sasha falls in love with one of the guardians named Bran who has some unique abilities of his own. Their quest is to find the three stars created by the goddesses of the moon, but a fourth wants to thwart their efforts and have the stars and their power all to herself. She is Nerezza, and she has powers of her own that threaten the quest of the guardians.
This book is typical of Nora Roberts' trilogies, but no matter how formula based they are, they always entertain. What makes these trilogies special is Roberts' talent at developing interesting characters that the reader cares about and her descriptions of real world settings that make the reader want to visit and enjoy, in this case the island of Corfu. Another great beginning to one of her special trilogies. ( )

Maybe 3 and a half. It's beautifully written but do not think about this book as another Nora Robert's novel. It's fantasy gathering so many factors and myths together.
All in all a fun easy read. ( )

Usually the first of the series grabs and holds me right off the bat. This one took till almost the last few chapters. I actually stopped and read another book in the middle of this one. I'm on to the second and hope it does better. I love the camaraderie and the magic. That everyone is not falling into bed every five minutes is a plus for me too. 6 join together to find 3 stars that have fallen to earth, they must fight and evil goddess and her dark minions, all have a special/secret "power" some we know from the beginning some not til the final battle. All in all it ends up being a good book. ( )
