Jean Howard, former Ziegfeld girl, MGM contract player, wife of a leading film agent, and Hollywood hostess, is also a photographer and raconteur. In this photographic memoir she provides an intimate look at the Hollywood she knew from the 1930s to the 1960s. Her lens caught many of Hollywood's best-known personalities in relaxed, unguarded moments - working, travelling, partying in each other's homes. The book shows Marilyn Monroe dancing with Clark Gable, Richard Burton and Judy Garland serenading fellow dinner-guests, Rita Hayworth and Aly Khan beside a Cannes swimming pool, and Jennifer Jones leading Fourth-of-July party-goers into the pool. There are also portraits of, among others, James Dean, the young Marlon Brando, Henry Fonda, Merle Oberon, Grace Kelly and Gene Tierney. No library descriptions found. |
