This is the most I have cried when reading. I cried at almost every page. Read it. ( )

Poignant and heartfelt recollection of the author's family, particularly her mother, experiences with taking care of her uncle who was schizophrenic. The story spans from 1961 to 1994, and most of it as seen from her young eyes as a child and, later on, as a teenager. Rendered in simple yet moving language, alongside quiet moments of observation as she tried to make sense of the world around her and understand her mother's burden being the primary caretaker of her brother.

Stigma and fear of mental illness remains pervasive in Singapore. ( )
