Not only did it have an action-packed story, but it moved along nicely with character development. I'm really starting to like Velvet's character overall. I think she makes a great comic book character. Not only is she a kick-ass spy, she is also a middle aged woman which seems rare in comics to cast as the leading lady. This comic should get more attention then it has. You always see how these "strong female characters" comic do really well, but the one issue is they are all 20 years or younger. It's very refreshing to see Velvet at 40ish. This an adult comic and very smart too. Brubaker isn't messing around here. ( ) Velvet Templeton makes a surprising return to London (as she is supposedly a traitor) to figure out who is behind the death of an agent and the more dated death of her own husband. The list of suspects is small due to the lengthy timeline, and Velvet will have o be very creative to flush out the culprit, including securing a unusual ally, another pariah like herself, who is in prison. Good story and artwork, but the story is still a bit murky, at least for me. This series sags in the middle chapters, though that may be partly my own fault for waiting two years after reading volume one before revisiting the series. Or the blame may lie with the writer for drawing out a game of cat-and-mouse for the length of the book, creating more questions than answers. I have volume three at hand and hope it wraps things up well. no reviews | add a review
