![]() No current Talk conversations about this book. Not nearly as exciting as the trilogy in any way. The ending left me cold though the introduction of Salander's sister, Camilla, could lead to some interesting battles between the two of them for future books. Regardless I was pretty disappointed due to high expectations. I've enjoyed this series enough to want to finish all six while looking forward to the next three now planned by a third writer. This one wasn't quite as enthralling but still worth the read. The sad thing is I read this when it came out, but couldn’t remember anything about it. Re-reading it, I understood why it wasn’t memorable- this wasn’t a Lisbeth Salander’s novel, it was a Blomkvist novel and not even a good one at that. Sadly, Salander plays a supporting role, pretty much as an answer giver, rather than be the Salander we know in the other books. We are told how bad ass she is, but the only real hint is she takes an exercise class after being hung over. While she makes more of an appearance in the ending, it is a huge task getting there. Even Blomkvist seemed mellowed out. I know it is a new author taking the reigns and so I gave a lot of slack, but I have a feeling I will forget even the second reading of this one. Usually if I don't like a book I don't finish it but since I love Salandar/Blomquist by Steig Larsson I finished to the end. I didn't like the writing though the story was good. The author took me out of the moment so many times. The action has started and then 180° turn and I am reading about the disappointment the assasin's daughter has towards him. Unfortunately, Salandar and Blomquist are over for me. no reviews | add a review
