Summary: This book is about a little girl named Sadie, Sadie love the winter because it would snow and she could build a snowman. Sadie would roll-up three big balls of snow and build a great snow man. She used Cookies for his eyes, apple for his nose, and a Banana to make his smile. The snowman would last a long time till the animals would come and take the food she used to make the snowman’s face. Then the snowman would melt away, then another snow storm came and she would build another snowman. This time she used crackers for his eyes, carrot for his nose, and a Zucchini for his smile. The snowman would last for a long time but the animals would come and take the food again. She had done this a couple of time till it became warm and the winter season was going away. So with the last one she made she kept the melted snow and placed it in the freezer till the next snow storm and she would build another snowman. Sadie just love winter when it snowed because she could build a snowman.

Personal reaction: The book has great colors and illustrations in it, and is part of what most kids and family’s like doing in the winter when it snows. A great way to show how there are so many ways to build a snowman using food, and materials to make their faces.

Classroom extensions:
1. There can be a time to build a snowman in the class with paper and cutout fruits and vegetables.
2. Look at different traditions, what they do during the winter when it snows. Have the students draw a picture of their winter time in the snow.

Book Summary:
This book is about a little girl who seems to like the winter weather and all the snow it brings. She builds a snow man with the first big snow of the season she uses fruits and vegetables for the face, however the animals come and take the fruit and vegetables off the face and eat them. Eventually the first snow man starts to melt and she is saddened by this but another snow comes in and she takes what was left of the first snow man and starts another. She eventually builds two or three snow men during the winter and the animals continues to come and take the things she uses for the face. eventually she season starts to change and the snow man becomes a puddle of water that she freezes so when the next winter comes she has the old snow man to start the process all over again.

Personal Reaction:
I like this book as currently there is quite a bit of snow and ice all over the place. I like the story I thought it was really cute my favorite part was that she froze what was left to start all over again the next winter.

Extension Ideas:
Teaching topics like Seasons, Winter Traditions in different cultures, possibly even determination as this little girl saved the last of her snowman to rebuild later.
