This book is stunningly realistic in how it portrays the difficulties of family life after an overseas deployment. It shows the warrior's own struggles with PTSD and how any negative diagnosis can jeopardize a military career and retirement plans (pensions, medical care, etc). Mr. Barber also shows how the spouse and children struggle with their loved ones' spontaneous episodes of rage and violence. No one wants to walk on egg shells. Everyone craves normalcy, but there is no "back-to-normal" with PTSD. It truly is worth the read.
Warning: Profanity is used throughout the book. Yes, I realize that this is normal. If the language was cleaned up, I'd rate this book five stars. ( )
