While I respect what the publisher Drawn & Quarterly has done for the comic art form, I did not find this a particularly enjoyable read. It is an 800 page, fawning, back-slapping awards show: guests come in to praise an artist, then there's a small clip of their work. It is useful if you want to try out new artists and then go find more of their work, but this collection in-and-of itself is unsatisfying. ( )

A goldmine of artistry that chronicles the complete history of D+Q. A bit self-serving, but well deserved. I found some authors to put in my graphic novels queue via this anthology. ( )
