The projects in this book nearly all start with a box (often a cardboard box such as a cereal box or shoebox which you reinforce - there is some great upcycling going on) and then decorate it or build onto it. There are a few exceptions such as a Shaker style box constructed of corrugated cardboard. Box decoration techniques include decoupage, applique, collage and papier mache. Most of the projects are within the capabilities of child, perhaps with a little adult guidance, and look fun to make.
