September 1942, Poland, life was horrific for everyone, especially for a Jewish child. When soldiers come to take the children living in a Polish ghetto, Gerta, a 14-year-old girl, is moved to a German orphanage by her parents. With no choice but to keep up the pretense, Gerta is taken as a governess by a Nazi physician. Hatred and heartache overcome her when she is violently assaulted, and sees friends and family fall victim to the Nazis.
