For centuries, philosophers and theologians have pondered questions such asWho are we? andWhat is the self? Awakening to the Dream is a book about you and your true identity. Awakening to the Dream is a very clear, approachable overview of the enigmatic philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, also known as non duality. Essentially, this is a book about you. It points to and from the source of your true identity. The clear seeing that it refers to is neither complex nor simple. It is not something exclusive for intellectual or spiritual elite, nor is it remote or hiding in the future. It is all inclusive, pure presence, closer than your breath. I feel the book offered three separate looks at non-dual teachings. The first third was a good book for fairly new students of non-dualist thinking. I’d give it 4 stars. The second section seemed to be a Q&A, but withheld the Qs, and so wound up being disjointed. I’d give that section a 2. The last third, and especially the very end, was again very nice. Not so much for a beginner, perhaps, but we must remember, there is nothing prescriptive that progresses students toward self/realization. I’d give it a 3.5, also. Which accounts for the 3 star rating. ( )
