This is the sequel to the book "Holes."

This sequel featuring Stanley’s friend Armpit pales in comparison to the series opener. Read my full review here. ( )

A sequel to the classic 'Holes', this novel features the young man known as 'Armpit'. He is trying to work hard and keep out of trouble, but he's kind-hearted and a little gullible. And so trouble tends to find him...

This novel for teenagers covers issues such as racism, integrity, disability, and the loneliness that can go with being a high profile public person. The writing is crisp and the storyline is interesting; never predictable, with many surprises.

I'd have liked a bit more closure in the ending, but overall I thought this a thoughtful and very appealing novel. It's not necessary to have read 'Holes' in advance, though it helps.
