This book tells of Mister Putter and his cat Tabby who plan a birthday surprise for Mrs Teaberry and her good dog Zeke.

A new entry in one of my favorite series!  Tabby may be a fine cat, and Zeke a good dog, but why were they taken to the conservatory?  I'm surprised they were allowed in, even if Putter & Teaberry didn't have the sense to leave them home!  But the picture of Putter as a child, and the theme of being a good sport even when special plans go wrong, are treats that make this book worthy of its place in this collection of now (I think) 24 books.
