![]() No current Talk conversations about this book. This volume although well told, took awhile and was too obvious. I am not going to add a spoiler but you will figure it out as you read. The end that wraps it up was too abrupt. But I always enjoy visiting the mud people so there was that. Overall if this wasn't part of a series I wouldn't keep it on my shelf but just pass it along. ( ![]() The similarities to Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series become increasingly obvious but if you like epic fantasy, that isn't necessarily a bad thing... Book 4 in the Sword of Truth series, and the best so far. This is a big/long book but my interest never sagged at any point. The same characters from the first three books, but a complex and involved story line that just keeps getting better and better. The audiobook goes for almost 29 hours. The narrator does a better job than the guy who narrated book 2, but unfortunately he mispronounces Kahlan's name throughout the book. According to all the previous books and the TV series based on the books, it should be pronounced 'Kay-Lin' but this narrator consistently pronounces it like it was 'Collin'. It takes some getting used to. The world is being over run by a plague and the only solution involves Kahlan and Richard each marrying someone they do not love instead of each other. LOTS of twists and turns in this book and you won't be able to put it down. Definitely one of the best books in the series so far. The plague that's unleashed is a very foreboding threat from start to finish, and it's sometimes heartbreaking to read about its victims. My only gripe is towards the end of the book when Richard becomes very depressed and boring despite having the power and knowledge he has. Otherwise a great book. Richard Cypher, war wizard and wielder of the Sword of Truth must battle the power-mad Emperor Jagang who returns with his multitude of demonic underlings. To defeat the evil Jagang and eliminate the sorcerous plague infecting the world, Richard must find the Temple of the Winds. HARD
Book Four of The Sword of Truth--the series first begun in Wizard's First Rule--returns listeners to the world of Richard Cypher, a simple woods guide who never dreamed he would be named the Seeker of Truth and become caught up in magic, war, and dangers so extraordinary that the fate of his entire world would hang on his actions and decisions. The dangerous, fanatical Imperial Order, under the leadership of the power-mad Emperor Jagang and his multitude of demonic underlings, unleashes a deadly plague. To find a cure Richard Cypher and his beloved Kahlan Amnell must seek out the legendary Temple of the Winds, a fortress of evil sealed away for three thousand years. But the path of the Seeker of Truth is never an easy one--even if he can reach the Temple at all, there is no guarantee he'll ever return. No library descriptions found. |
