Celeste Nichols is a sweet caring woman who is the local librarian. She loves doing storytime with the children and loves to see the smiles on their faces as she reads. As she is reading at storytime one day, she sees a familiar face. Flynn is there with his daughter Olivia and the young girl seems mesmerized by the story. I fell instantly in love with this young girl who seemed to want to fit in. The interaction between Celeste and Olivia was very heartwarming and brought tears to my eyes at times. It is hard to see a child going through physical and emotional trauma. As Celeste is able to start bonding with Olivia there is a connection between them that is pure and natural.
For some reason I didn't care much for Flynn, Olivia's father. Maybe it was because he was to overprotective of his daughter or he seemed to move to quickly to start a relationship with Celeste. I think maybe the author wrote such a great character, that when he screamed at Celeste, he made me angry . It was cute to see them interact with each other after all these years. Celeste had a huge crush on him when they were teenagers, and to see him back in town was a bit of a shock for her. I enjoyed reading about the Christmas farm and how enchanting it was for children. I could picture the squeals of excited children as they saw lights and beautiful decorations. It was especially nice to read how close knit Celeste's family was. Their warmth and caring definitely was a welcome feeling for Flynn and Olivia.
As you read the book you will find a woman who is able to reach a young girl suffering from a traumatic time in her life. The author did a great job in giving characters strength, and bringing people together to help each other. Will there be a romance between Celeste and Flynn? Can Olivia overcome her past and be a happy young girl again?
Overall the book was very well written and kept my attention the whole time. I love Christmas themed books and this one has all the elements of a Hallmark movie that makes you feel good and brings people together with love and the importance of family. ( )
