I received this book as part of a promo/review tour in exchange for a fair, unbiased review.
This a paranormal book that starts off innocently enough by a group of college kids playing around with a Ouija board. They had no idea what havoc can be wreaked when invoking spirits from otherworldy realms. Well, they do in fact release several very evil, demonic souls. If trying to figure everything out and deal with their consequences, they discover they must find a key to “lock” or bind the evil souls again.
If your a fan of good paranormal reads I recommend you pick up this book. It’s a good solid read, steady moving pace, with very believable characters. All elements of a wonderful paranormal book are revealed by this author. I enjoyed reading this! Bravo!! ( )

Twisted Sisters by Kimber Leigh Wheaton
Book #2: The Orion Circle Series

My Rating: 3½/5 stars
My Review:

Round two of The Orion Circle finds the gang knee-deep in a sorority house mess. After playing with they thought was a children’s toy, two sorority sisters inadvertently unleash three seriously nasty spirits that have been tied to the house since their brutal murder in the 1970s.

Logan is dispatched to the sorority to house assess the situation and quickly discovers he is well out of his depth and needs some serious back-up. The spirits are unlike anything Logan (or the Orion Circle) have ever encountered. The long-dead sisters are beyond angry, they are likely the most powerful the group has ever faced, they have been banished from the house once before, and they are hell-bent on revenge. To make matters even worse, the strongest of the three vengeful spirits had (and has) the ability to read negative emotions and thoughts. Her ability to manipulate other’s thoughts and exploit their fears coupled with her ability to move (read: throw!) large objects wreaks havoc on the group causing both mental and physical injury.

In order to permanently fix the sorority house’s ghost problem, the Orion Circle must harness all their collective powers and convince the three angry apparitions to cross over into the light. For two of the three spirits, it is surprisingly (like way too surprisingly) easy to convince them to cross over but the third takes considerably more skill, effort, and cunning. As the group delves deeper into the deaths of the three sorority sisters they discover how truly heinous the crime was. Between the manipulation, the drugs, the betrayal, and the brutality, it is no wonder the girls are angry and vengeful. By the time the group is able to solve the problem, the sorority house has been destroyed, loyalties have been tested, old friendships re-forged, and premonitions of future darkness and danger spoken.

The Bottom Line: Round two of The Orion Circle series fell into the dreaded sophomore slump for me. Just about everything I liked in this read also had a serious negative side. For example, I like Kacie and Logan but there are a lot of other members of the Orion Circle I am interested in learning more about. Daniel, Blake, and Raven are at the top of the list and though they got some time off the bench in this read, they still played second fiddle to Kacie and Logan. I like the basic premise of three sorority sisters haunting their old home but the explanation into their murder was too much of reach for me and their end felt quite anticlimactic. I really hope Twisted Sisters is just a sophomore slump and not an indication of what’s coming for the series as a whole. There is still a great deal of potential and a great number of characters waiting to be tapped which is why I am hopeful future books in the series will rise like a phoenix out of the slump. ( )

Kaci is a high school student with special powers, as part of the Orion Circle, she and her classmates help people with their paranormal problems. When a college sorority decides to play with a spirit board, the Sisters unknowingly release three deceased Sisters that were brutally murdered in the house years ago. Bent on wreaking havoc, destructions and seeking revenge for how they passed, the three spirits quickly destroy the house and scare the occupants. The Orion Circle is called in to rid the house of spirits. When they arrive, they realize that these aren't ordinary ghosts, they are exceptionally strong and angry. Kacie, Logan, Daniel and the rest of the Orion Circle have to combine all of their talents in order to help these spirits move on.

I loved the first book of the Orion Circle and Twisted Sisters kept up the intrigue, horror and excitement. These books are fit for the Young Adult audience, but entertaining even for adults. I enjoyed seeing Kaci grow as a person and overcome fears that were both paranormal and in real life. Some of the best drama provided was the general high school antics. The ghosts and their backstory was wonderfully intricate and terrifying. I liked how the entire Orion Circle team really worked together and used their different talents to help these spirits. Another great Orion Circle installment, I can't wait for more!

This book was received for free in return for an honest review. ( )
