"Mary Plain is, as she describes herself, "an unusual bear from the bear-pits at Berne". Now staying with friends at Blueberry Manor, Mary helps and hinders as usual - and becomes a Vip by lending a paw with floods. First published 1961. Still funny, reminds me of Paddington, but this series was written a generation earlier. ( )
