Interesting book and I enjoyed it. Not quite what I normally read but was definitely worth it. I don't do spoilers but would recommend you read this especially if you are a bit of a scifi reader or like books dealing with the future. Was a bit of a slower read and not a fast page turner but it definitely kept my interest and that could be because I'm not as interested in the topic. Recommended! ( )

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a well written story and very exciting. There's a future world that takes shape without a huge amount of setup - you just start to relate to it as you go along and it all make sense. Good plot development, strong characters, thoughtful and descriptive. Excellent reading. ( )

I recieved this book through LibraryThings Early Review in exchange for an honest review of the book.

I thought Stranger King had excellent writing and an intriguing plot. My only quibble is with Thegn's character. He seems choppy and distant, his personality doesn't seem fully formed and his relationship with Lena was unrealistic at best. The story seemed slightly disjointed in places jumping ahead a few years without explanation. This could have been due to the Ebook I was reading though. Overall I thought the story was enjoyable and entertaining.

I thought the book had a promising premise, but it didn't really capitalize on the world-building details that could have made it a unique story -- instead it just rushes headlong through plot points. The characters were also a bit flat, and there was nothing particularly engaging about the dialogue. ( )

Really not much to say about this one. Sorry. I didn't enjoy it but I didn't actively hate it either. I had zero emotional connection to the characters and the climactic scenes ultimately left me feeling completely unsatisfied. Best things about this novel: fast paced and mercifully short. ( )
