I’m feeling hot nor cold for this book. It is inventive in the way that it’s about a fictive country Orlisia. Hundreds of Orlisians are in a refugee camp (read prison camp) in the hands of the Russians. Sophie is part of a committee that wants access to the camp to ensure the human rights of the refugees are respected and to bring medical help. On her hidden agenda is also Michael Navrosky-Trent, an American born Orlisian for whom she has warm feelings. He went off the radar and she thinks he might be in the camp and she wants to rescue him at the same time. And so a precarious operation begins. It might be just me but I did not feel very much for Michael and his attitude and ideas about women. Also his archaic use of language did not help to identify with the characters. I can’t see why Sophie would be so hung up on him for. An ok book but nothing more as far as I’m concerned. ( )
