While Zoe and Zak are away for a murder mystery weekend in Ireland (a fabulous read itself) best friend Ellie is taking charge of responsibilities back home in Ashton Falls.
It is Valentine's Day weekend and Ellie is feeling lonely and vulnerable. She has experienced several losses and disappointments in only a few short months.

Her best male friend, recently ex boyfriend, Levi has been spending time with another woman, a teacher at the high school. So it is a surprise when he turns up like old times.
More surprising when he tells her the woman is dead and he has no alibi.
Normally this would be a situation where Zoe would investigate but no one can get in touch with her.
Ellie still loves Levi and has to help.
Will her investigating put her in as much danger as it usually does Zoe?

With the Zimmermans away, Ellie's first responsibility is to help settle the new math teacher and his children. Will this become something more than expected?
Brady Matthews also is experiencing quite the life change. Each is adjusting to a "new normal."

For fans of the Zoe Donovan series, this spin off is a welcome opportunity to spend time with the beloved secondary characters. This book stands alone as a fast, cozy murder mystery while preparing readers for what is to come once Zimmerman Academy becomes a reality. ( )
