This was awesome and fun and comically dry until ... about the 67% mark and then it began to lose steam for me.

Stiles and Derek are assassins at competing firms. For some reason Derek has a contract on him and Stiles attempts to fill it. But Derek gets wise to him and ruins Stiles' perfect hit record. Then the hunter becomes the hunted and a nice back and forth ensues. To make matters more complicated, Derek breaks into Stiles' father's house to kill Stiles and they end up wrestling at which point the Sheriff walks in and demands to know what is going on. The wrestling has led to a compromising position and Derek blurts out they are boyfriends. So they continue the ruse as boyfriends, but are still trying to kill each other.

The comical dryness of this fic drives it and is so endearingly amusing. It reads like a cross between Grosse Point Blank and Mr. and Mrs. Smith and is very much in the vein of both. I really enjoyed it up to the point that they stop trying to kill each other and then I just so-so enjoyed it. But for the parts where they are enemies and fake boyfriends at the same time - and at the mercy of the Sheriff and his random and embarrassing interrogations, it is worth a read.

And for a little taste of some lines to smirk at ...

"He's tenser than a virgin in a moonlight orgy by the time dinner rolls around."

"His tone leaves no room for compromise and it does not make Stiles pants tighter. Nope. Okay it does. Whatever."
