The second in a series of county resource books about West Michigan counties. Ottawa County is the site of a large Dutch settlement beginning in 1847. The book includes historic maps, the controversy over the county seat, railroads, including, steam, electric and horsedrawn and a short history of settlement. The heart of the book is a gazetteer listing all settlements that ever existed in the county including mill towns, railroad stations, river landings and paper towns that were never built. There is also an extensive bibliography and a review of all fictional stories, poems and movies that used the county as setting.
