Hated Gambit issue, but I love when the Professor gets all mental-ly. His son was "meh" too though. ( )

I was unfamiliar with the Proteus story arc from the main continuity so this was brand new to me. Nice to see the Ultimate Betsy Braddock. I find it really interesting that the Ultimate Universe people seem to be comfortable with killing characters off right and left; it makes me feel like they will either regret wasting the character later or they'll resort to the whole back from the dead game pretty quickly. Still - enjoyable and I'll be continuing with the series. ( )

I thought that the first big arc, "World Tour," dragged big time. I just wasn't interested in it at all. Once that one ended, however, I started getting into the story again. ( )

Continues the compiled retelling of the X-Men saga. The insane, body-jumping son of Pfofessor X and Moira escapes and wreaks havoc, Kitty Pryde joins the team, and Beast's indiscretion allows Magneto to slip Professor X's psychic bonds and resume his world-conquering ways. Oh, and the Hellfire Club makes a brief and short-lived appearance. Not as consistently fine as Ultimate Spider-Man, but a mighty interesting title nonetheless. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0785111301, Hardcover)

This hardcover volume features many key introductions, including Proteus (the evil son of Professor X), Gambit (who enjoyed a large fan-following in the hit X-Men cartoon) and Phoenix (the dark split personality of Jean Grey). The X-Men are cut to the emotional core as they battle their way through an obstacle course of deadly trials. First, Professor Xavier -- the mentor of the X-Men -- is forced to confront his past sins when his own son explodes into a destructive force. The question is, will he sacrifice his team to save his son? Then, the X-Men face another internal conflict when Jean Grey turns to the dark side. To save themselves, and the world, will the X-Men strike down their own teammate?

(retrieved from Amazon Sat, 23 Jan 2016 01:16:00 -0500)
