Difficult to put down, easy read with plenty of action. ( )

Our heroes, the Fargos, are in a rare bookstore obtaining a copy of an old book about pirates. Some thugs barge in and wind up killing the store owner, the uncle of one of their employees. When her cousin (the owner's daughter) is kidnapped, Sam and Remi start to think there is something more to the book than merely an old tome.

So naturally they end up on a quest to find the long-lost King John's treasure, squirreled away centuries ago when the monarch died while on a journey. Not much about pirates at all! ( )

What started as a simple book buying excursion for an old original book on Pirates lead Sam and Remi Fargo on a quest to stop a rich greedy man from obtaining King Johns lost treasure. A good book but not much to the story line. ( )

Eighth in The Fargo Adventures action adventure series --revolves around Sam and Remi Fargo, treasure-hunting millionaires. Remi and Sam get mixed up in another treasur hunt, centered around Robin Hood.. Exciting and fun, yet mindless. Fargoes are already characters that we know and the bad guys are developed about like Cussler usually does. In the end, a major plot point is left unresolved, and the ending is a bit rushed and unsatisfying. An OK read. ( )

Not up to standard? An interesting start, but: the misogynistic characters are just a bit...too misogynistic to be believable, A bit of the language is stilted and repetitive, a major plot point is left unresolved, and the ending is a bit rushed and unsatisfying. This has always been the weakest of Cussler's series, so its hard to say if moving on to the 4th different coauthor in 8 books is a cause or a symptom. ( )
