This book is about a caterpillar that is just born. He wakes up very hungry and finds an apple. Every day after he wakes up he eats through one more piece of fruit than he ate the day before. On one of the days he eats to much and doesn't feel good until he eats a leaf. He then built a house (cocoon) around him and after he was in it for a while he became a butterfly.
This book was well written. It didn't go into to much detail on what a caterpillar actually does because of the audience is directed to.The elements of literature all match up to fit the story line.
After I read this book to my students I would plan an assignment to furthermore explain the evolution of a caterpillar. I would also try to have a field day with the students. ( )
