"Iron Gold" was not a cheerful book. It did introduce and develop some interesting characters. I do not think that all is as it appears. I hope that reading "Dark Age" clears things up. ( )

This series is a great adventure. The plot is complicated, as are the characters, but both are believable. The scope and depth of the world building is a consistent delight. Imaginative and bloody and fun. This series stands in the wake of the classics and isn’t overwhelmed. ( )

Excellent. The continuation of the trilogy is great. The multiple POVs are handled superbly. Can’t wait to read what’s next. ( )

The main characters from season 1 spend most of this book whining and crying. The new ones are interesting and give a different dimension to the story but don't inspire. It landed flat compared to the previous books. I may read the next for completion sake. ( )

The fourth book in the Red Rising series, and apparently the first in a new trilogy. Ten years have passed since the end of the first trilogy, and Darrow (a/k/a the Reaper) is now married to Mustang and they have a child named Pax. The Republic (middle planets) are at war with the close planets, and Darrow thinks the only way to peace is to defeat the Ash Lord. To do so, he decides to liberate a psycho from an underwater prison, with the help of Sevro and the Howlers. Pierce Brown introduces some new lead characters, with some good and some not so good. I found the book slow at times, with some horrible decisions that seemed senseless at the time and in retrospect. The brilliant color/class war, hallmark of the first trilogy, seems to have fallen away to more traditional political wrangling, which is a real shame. ( )
